More than £320,000 has been raised for four Irish siblings whose mother and father died of cancer within months.

Following the deaths of Padraig and Elaine Clifford of County Kerry, a fundraiser was set up for their four boys, aged five to 21.

Paidraig, 46, died in January, just five months after his wife Elaine died of the same illness just a day before her 41st birthday.

The couple are survived by sons Patrick, 21, Jack, 14, Andrew, 8, and Conor, 5.

Following the tragedy, the family’s community in Milltown was rocked after the well-known couple passed away.

With the help of the public and donations, the young orphans hoped to buy their rented family home in the city to “secure their future”.

An update on the fundraising page over the weekend explained that the campaign had surpassed its goal of €80,000 and raised a whopping €380,165.

Mary Hayes, who organized the GoFundMe page, said: “The Clifford boy’s aunt, Mary Hayes, and her grandfather, James Clifford, died on March 27.

“This house holds precious memories of her parents, Padraig and Elaine, who both passed away from cancer within five months.

“They are humbled and genuinely grateful for the phenomenal generosity their fundraiser has received.

“In one month, the GoFundMe site has raised $379,085 through donations from around the world.

“It has exceeded all expectations and it is hard to put into words how grateful the Clifford family is.

“The last few months have been extremely difficult for the Clifford boys and they would not have made it through without the great support of their extended family, friends and neighbours.

“They would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their comfort, support, kindness and generosity.

“The funds raised have been put into a trust fund for the boys, which will enable Patrick, Jack, Andrew and Conor to purchase their home in Milltown and help with future living and education costs.

“I sincerely thank you all for your generosity and kindness, that will never be forgotten.”
