Fox News enjoyed Ron DeSantis’ flawed campaign launch on Twitter

Fox News on Twitter on Wednesday appeared to show glee at the botched start of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R)’s 2024 presidential campaign.

The conservative broadcaster may have been upset that DeSantis didn’t make the announcement on the conservative broadcaster and responded extremely scathingly on its website.

It published a headline describing the problems as an “amateur lesson”.

“Ron DeSanti’s much-hyped presidential announcement on Twitter was a disaster,” it said.

The homepage also aired a crawl graphic that read, “PROGRAMMING NOTE: Want to actually see and hear Ron DeSantis?” Tune in to Fox News at 8 p.m.

And when DeSantis later spoke to Fox’s Trey Gowdy in a largely fawning interview, Gowdy told the governor, “I can’t promise you I won’t crash, but Fox News won’t crash on this interview.”

Gowdy later hired DeSantis to shoot the subjects, saying, “Maybe you just had a big audience.”

“We had a huge audience. It was the greatest thing they’ve ever had,” DeSantis replied, adding, “It blew up the Twitter space and that’s why we’re really excited about the buzz, but ultimately it’s about the future of our country.”
