A new patch for broken online adds the recently promised weather system, adds safe zones around ports, a crafting fee and tax system, and fixes a bunch of bugs (since it’s a closed beta after all).
The weather system adds extra layers to your strategy and is combined with the recently added temperature system which reflects where you are in the world, the time of day and of course the weather. Weather systems can occur and you will notice clouds appearing in different zones. These clouds precede a specific weather event, and factors here include precipitation, wind, weather-related temperature variations, and effects such as lightning, all of which are within the circular zone. Things will be less intense towards the edges of the boundary and more intense near the center of the cloud.
After this danger, there is also a safe area near ports. Players can no longer camp in ports as the areas now have a PVP-free zone up to 50m from the office building. You can see where the safety zone ends with a particle effect.
Also in this update is a new system that introduces crafting fees and taxes. It’s a gold mine at its core, but it also gives you some options. If you craft from your own inventory menu, there are no charges, but any items you craft will be of poor quality. When you craft a crafting station in your house or in a town, there is a base fee in gold and possibly a tax to the town. City governors can set the tax at a percentage of the craft base. This can be as low as 0% or as high as 100% of the fee. You can set different rates for citizens of your city, residents of the region or foreigners.
