France lifts some travel restrictions for Britons from today

FRANCE has lifted some of its travel restrictions that have barred Britons from entering the country.
Last month, France banned all visitors from the UK due to the Omicron variant.
However, some restrictions have now been relaxed, the French Consulate confirmed.
They wrote on their social media accounts: “As of January 6, 2022, the list of compelling reasons is expanded.
“In particular, business trips in both directions and transit through France to their homeland in the EU are facilitated.”
This means that business trips can now resume and Britons can travel through France to other countries if they have a home there.
Tourists are still not welcome back with the holidays still not a valid reason to enter France.
It is expected that these will also be alleviated in the coming weeks.
Government spokesman Gabriel Attal told Local that it could be “next week” as a timeframe for further easing restrictions, with many hoping they will be lifted in time during the February half term.
France announced travel ban on December 16, stating that all arrivals must have an “essential reason to travel to or from the UK, both unvaccinated and vaccinated”.
France is not the only country restricting travel rules now that Omicron has grown across Europe.
Germany lifts travel ban about UK tourists only few weeks after recommending it.
