Fred Savage fired from The Wonder Years reboot after ‘inappropriate behavior’

Fred Savage has been fired from the reboot of The Wonder Years following an investigation into “multiple complaints of misconduct”.

Savage is an executive producer and director of the ABC comedy series – currently produced as part of Disney Television Studios.

Wonder Years is a reboot of the beloved 1988 series starring Savage.

“We were recently made aware of allegations of inappropriate behavior by Fred Savage and in accordance with policy, an investigation has been initiated,” the statement from parent company Disney read.

“Once completed, the decision was made to terminate his employment as executive producer and director of Magic years . ”

Details about the nature of the misconduct allegations are unclear, but Deadline insists they include “outrageous verbal conduct” and “inappropriate conduct”.

Mirror has reached out to a Savage representative for comment.

Savage became a small screen star as Kevin Arnold on the show of the 60s and 70s.

Wonder Years had an impressive six seasons from 1988-1993.

The revival of the series premiered last year.

Season 1 of the Wonder Years reboot aired in 2021 and now Season 2 hangs in the balance after Savage was fired.

Savage directed eight episodes of the new series that follows Elisha ‘EJ’ Williams as protagonist Dean Williams and depicts a black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama during the 1960s.

In 2018, it was reported that the actor was accused of sexual harassment when he was 16 years old.

The case was settled out of court and subsequently dropped.

Former co-star Alley Mills, who played his mother on The Wonder Years, declared the lawsuit “totally absurd” at the time after it forced the show to be cancelled.

“When we were shooting the last season of the series, nobody knew if The Wonder Years was getting a refresh, and that’s because of a completely ridiculous sexual harassment lawsuit going on with Fred Savage,” she said. .
