Friends star Mike Hagerty dies after adverse reaction to antibiotics

Mike Hagerty, who appeared on the American sitcom Friends, fell into a coma and died after having an adverse reaction to antibiotics.

Mike Hagerty has died after having an adverse reaction to an antibiotic, it has been reported.

The 67-year-old Friends star was recovering from an infection in one of his legs when he was admitted to the hospital by a doctor because the actor complained of feeling unwell.

TMZ It was reported on Sunday that actor Seinfeld had taken antibiotics but this is believed to have caused him to have a seizure.

This sent Mike into a coma from which he never recovered, and Bridget Everett of HBO show Somebody Somewhere, which Mike will begin filming season two for, announced his death on Thursday. May 6, on social networks.

Actor known for his recurring role as Mr Treeger on Friends.

The popular American sitcom aired from 1994 to 2004 and Mike starred in five episodes of the comedy during that time.

Mr. Treeger was the director at Monica Gellar and Rachel Green’s New York City apartment building and he managed to evict the roommates in one particular episode.

Mike starred until season eight and shared footage with all of the sitcom’s main characters, played by Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry.

During his career, Mike has played a number of characters on shows including Lucky Louie and HBO’s Somebody Somewhere.

It was his Somebody Somewhere co-star Bridget Everett who broke the news of Mike’s passing on social media.

She wrote on Instagram: “Extremely saddened, the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles.

“As a beloved actor, his love of his hometown of Chicago and his family was the cornerstone of his life.

“Mike, a devoted husband, is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn, sister Mary Ann Hagerty [and] her wife Kathleen O’Rourke, and their daughter Meg.

“He’ll be very missed.”

Bridget added: “I fell in love with Mike the moment I met him. He was special. Warm, funny, never met a stranger.

“We are heartbroken for his passing. Mike is loved by the entire cast and crew of Somebody Somewhere. Our thoughts are with his wife and family.”
