Sunday marks a week since Bronx Fire at Twin Park apartment at 333 E 181st Street.

Funerals began Wednesday with a service at a Harlem mosque for two siblings, Seydou Toure, 12, and Haouwa Mahamadou, 5.

Community leaders made arrangement for the remaining victims “on behalf of the West African Community”, as all 15 are part of a close-knit Gambian community from West Africa.

Elected officials including Mayor Eric Adams, New York Attorney General Letitia James and Senator Chuck Schumer sat in the front row facing the coffins during the emotional funeral.

Sheikh Musa Drammneh at the ceremony said: “These funeral caskets are here because they live in the Bronx. “We are here because we lived in the Bronx. People are dying because they live in the Bronx. “

Support was so rampant that the Bronx mosque could not hold all the mourners, who filled tents set up for three blocks outside the building as well as the streets and sidewalks outside.

The fire, believed to have been started by a space heater, is the city’s deadliest fire in decades.

“What’s happening here in the Bronx, that’s what’s happening here across our city in communities where there are blacks, browns and immigrants,” Mayor Adams said at service.

“It’s time to end those inequalities so we don’t have our kids and families torn apart.”

Eight of the victims were children. The youngest victim was Ousmane Konteh, a two-year-old boy.

Police have released a complete list of their names and ages:
