Authorities are still looking for two brothers, aged 17 and 15, who also face charges for their alleged involvement.

According to police, Galilea slept in a mobile home overnight with her siblings and other children. The house is owned by a woman who lives there with her two teenage grandchildren who are not related to Galilea. And one of them was the intended target of the drive-by, Deputy Police Commissioner Cecily Barker said at the news conference.

According to the police, a bullet went through the mobile home and hit Galilea in the head. She was taken to a local hospital, where her death was pronounced.

After the shooting, authorities released surveillance footage of the two Kia Souls, which they said were present at the shooting.

In an opinionAlbuquerque Police said the teens were involved in an “argument over a girl” that went back years when they were still in middle school.

The feud “escalated in recent months and reportedly resulted in drive-by shootings between the two teenagers and several friends,” the statement said.

Police say investigators have linked bullet casings from the Vista Del Sol shooting to a November 2022 incident involving several teenagers, including two of the suspects in Galilea’s murder.

Authorities are not sure how the teenagers allegedly obtained firearms.

Four minutes after the Vista Del Sol incident, the teenagers, who police said were driving the Kia Soul, allegedly took part in another drive-by shooting at a separate home, with surveillance footage of the vehicles near the scene recorded.

According to the authorities, the family was unharmed in the apartment. However, they told police that this was not the first attack they had seen.

“The homeowner, his wife and four-year-old son at this home were unharmed in this shooting, which was the second drive-by in recent weeks,” police said.

A teenager who was staying in the mobile home where Galilea was shot told officers two of his friends were staying at the second spot passing, adding that they were involved in the argument with the 17-year-old, who continued to look up walk free.

According to police, both Kia Souls were abandoned after the shooting and one of them was set on fire.

The four juvenile suspects are charged with open charges of murder, conspiracy, shooting at an apartment or occupied building, shooting at or from a motor vehicle and illegally taking a motor vehicle.

The New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender, which represents the two jailed teenagers, did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment on their cases.

In a GoFundMe campaign to raise money Speaking at Galilea’s funeral, the girl’s mother said the family was heartbroken, adding that she “never thought my little baby would die like this”.
