Gardaí continue to investigate a spate of messages leaked on social media over the past few days targeting a school.

Officers visited St Oliver’s Community College in Drogheda on Wednesday after alleging an online threat. Gardaí patrolled the area around the school throughout Wednesday.

“Gardaí is investigating today, Wednesday 21.

“There are ongoing patrols in the area.”

This morning Gardaí were alerted after more messages were posted online also targeting the school. However, the force said the institution was not under threat.

“Gardaí is investigating messages sent to an educational institution in Drogheda via a social media messaging app today, Friday 23 September 2022. A Garda Siochana is confident there is no threat to the facility,” added a Garda spokesman.

“The investigation is ongoing.”
