Gardai are trying to determine the motive behind the gun attack on a man shot in the face in Dublin

Gardai are trying to establish a motive in a gun attack on a man who was shot in the face in Dublin on Friday.

The 29-year-old, who has no known links to organized crime, was shot and killed in a car at Cherrywood Grove in Clondalkin around 5pm on Friday.

He is believed to have sustained a gunshot wound to the face in the attack.

The man, who is from Oldchurch Crescent in Clondalkin, was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he is being treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

Gardai are trying to find a motive for the shooting or to determine if it was a mistaken identity and are believed to be following a number of investigative lines.

The injured person is not known to Gardai for involvement in a crime.

No arrests were made and Clondalkin Gardai are leading the investigation into the shooting.
