Gardai releases new information appealing about brutal murder in Donegal

GARDAI has launched a new appeal regarding the brutal murder of a man in Donegal.

Shaun Duffy, 36, was murdered at her home in Meenacross, Dungloe, with a crossbow and knife after returning from a night out in the early morning hours of January 29, 2005.

He socialized in the Strand View Bar in Maghery on Friday, January 28, 2005.

Shaun then continued to socialize at a house in the former Meenacross back home at around 2:30am.

And his body was discovered in Donegal got home just before 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.

Just after the 17th anniversary of Shaun’s horrific disappearance, Gardai are renewing their call for information.

They are urging anyone who has not provided information to do so now.

A spokesman said: “Gardaí at the Milford Garda station continues to investigate the murder of thirty-six-year-old Shaun Duffy, who was attacked and mortally wounded at his home in Meenacross, Dungloe, Co. Donegal , at dawn on Saturday, January 29, 2005.

“Shaun socialized at the Strand View Bar in Maghery on Friday, January 28, 2005.

“He then continued socializing at a home in Meenacross, Dungloe and returned to his own home around 2:30 a.m. His body was discovered at his home just before 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.”

They added: “Investigator Gardaí continues to appeal for information in this case and believes that some people have yet to bring forward who may currently be in a position to assist in bringing those responsible first. Justice.

“With the passage of time, some people may now be in a position to provide information to investigate Gardaí that they were unable to provide at the time, or it may be that several people provided information at the time.” That may provide more information.”
