Gardaí seize €78,390 worth of drugs and arrest a man, 20, and a teenager in Co Waterford

Gardaí have seized drugs worth €78,390 and arrested a man and a teenager following a search in Co Waterford.

The man, in his 20s, and the teenage boy were arrested and are currently being held at Waterford Garda Station under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

The search operation in the city of Waterford took place on Thursday as part of Operation Tara.

At around 8.45pm yesterday, Gardaí searched a property in Ferrybank, Waterford City.

The search discovered 1.1 kg of cocaine worth 76,650 euros.

The search also discovered cannabis worth another 1,740 euros.

All confiscated drugs are now being sent for further analysis.

Operation Tara is an enhanced national anti-drug strategy launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July last year.
