Gary Busey charged with sex crimes at Monster-Mania Con

Gary Busey has been charged with a sex offense related to an incident at a fan convention in New Jersey this month.

The 78-year-old man was charged Friday with two counts of 4th degree criminal sex contact, one count of willful sexual contact and one count of harassment, Cherry Hill police said. .

Police say the charges stem from offenses committed at the annual Monster Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel on August 12-14 in Cherry Hill, a suburb of Philadelphia.

The actor, from Malibu in California, was scheduled to be a guest on all three days of the event.

Police did not identify the suspect as the actor, they said the actor’s age and hometown. An email was sent to them seeking confirmation of identity and other details.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect had an attorney, and the actor’s representatives did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Busey is widely known as a character actor, primarily for supporting roles such as in Point Break, although he did come to the attention and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for lead role in the 1978 film The Buddy Holly Story.
