“Kai Havertz, you have to credit the manager for picking him and Havertz had one of his best games in a Chelsea shirt. N’Golo Kante is his best player in the world. Lille’s threat wasn’t enough and as they got close to goal Chelsea hit a brick wall.

“It was a really brilliant performance by Chelsea. Keeping a clean sheet is huge at home. With matches where they have to keep up with the league that could allow them to rotate the roster more.

“Chelsea have won without playing their best and if some of these players start to perform at the level they can reach then they can continue playing for the long term.”
