Gary Lineker Releases Rumors He Will Be Replaced By James Corden In Match Of The Day

Gary seemed a little scared that he was about to be replaced as host of Match of the Day as rumors surfaced on social media that James would take the crown.

Gary Lineker has been forced to address rumors that he will be replaced as host of Match of the Day by James Corden.
The 61-year-old has been a popular football review TV presenter since the 1990s – and is paid £1.36m a year by the BBC for the privilege.
But many fans believe his position is under threat from 43-year-old James, who recently announced his retirement from hosting The Late, Late Show in the US and is set to return to Blighty.
Rumors have circulated on social media that James will be given the chair of Match of the Day – with speculations reaching a level of conviction so intense that Gary is forced to speak out.

Taking to Twitter, the former footballer stated: “Received several messages from friends asking if I would give up @BBCMOTD after reporting on Twitter about my possible successor.
“So it’s only fair that I give you the bad news: I’m afraid I still have 3 years left to work on my contract, so you’re stuck with me for a while.”
James is said to have turned down a multi-year £40m deal to continue as host of Late, Late Show in the US – which he has hosted since 2015 and will now leave next year. .

A source told the Daily Mail the £40m fee would not be able to entice him to stay as he wants to spend more time with his family and return to the UK.
“He could have gone down the cash route with Gavin and Stacey, holding the check and writing it forever, but he chose not to. This is the same thing,” they said.
An insider told the publication: “James wants to write, make films and he loves theatre.
“He’s only in his forties. There’s so much more out there.”
While James himself has told fans his final episode will air in 2023 as he hinted at some of the thinking behind the big career move.
“There are still some other things that I feel like I want to do,” he told Deadline.
“I want to try and write. There are some [stories] I want to tell. I want to see if I can afford it. The fact that it’s scary is the reason to do it. “
And he told his studio audience last week that he had decided to give up, explaining: “I have some news of my own that I want to share with you guys. Seven and a half years ago, I started this program, and in no way, it changed my life.

“I love it. I love everyone who works here. I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved. It’s beyond my wildest and wildest dreams. So today I am. pleased to announce that I have signed a new contract, to continue hosting The Late Late Show.”
While the rumors that he will be a football presenter seem like a pipe dream at this point, other reports suggest that James could soon launch a late-night talk show. brand new after he returned to the UK.
