Gears of War could get a Master Chief Collection style collection

It looks like war implements could go the way of the Master Chief Collection, according to a new report.
It’s important to note that this is just a rumor, but according to journalist and podcaster Nick Baker speaking on the XboxEra Podcast, Gears of War could get a collection similar to the Master Chief Collection (thanks, VGC).
“A while ago I said there was another Microsoft franchise that was getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment. I believe that will be the case later this year,” Baker said. He then added, “Everybody guessed it,” and encouraged his co-hosts to come out and say it’s Gears. “If you go November 2021 to November 2022 and look at Microsoft’s big game results, it could be Halo, Gears, Forza,” Baker also noted.
Last month, Gears developers The coalition announced that it would be removing the map builder feature from the latest entry in the franchise, Gears 5. The reason for this is so that the studio can “focus on future projects”.
When we last heard from The Coalition, the studio announced it was moving to Unreal Engine 5 to work on “several new projects” all related to the Gears series. Although The Coalition also noted that this means we probably won’t hear about the next game for a while as the move to the new engine is said to be a big project.
With that in mind, a collection that wraps up the previous Gears games would make a lot of sense as it would keep Gears in everyone’s mind and fill that gap until the next game. gears 5 is three years old at this point (and was really good too), so filling that gap seems like a smart move.
