Genshin Impact for Nintendo Switch is still in development, says miHoYo
Genshin Impact has achieved significant success since its launch on consoles, PC, and mobile. The title was originally slated to release for Nintendo Switch in 2020 as well. However, we are now well into 2022 and have yet to see any signs of macha play on the handheld console.
It’s been a while since we’ve had an update from miHoYo as well, so the folks at GoNintendo took it upon themselves to ask miHoYo if fans should still expect to see the free-to-play game on Nintendo to see switches. Of course, they didn’t get too far with concrete and exciting answers. However, we do know that the effort to bring Genshin Impact to Nintendo Switch is not over yet.
Given that recent Genshin Impact media hasn’t mentioned the Nintendo Switch at all, fans were a little concerned that Genshin might not be coming to the Switch after all. The Nintendo Switch neglect was addressed when the video descriptions were updated to mention them, but the damage for worried fans had already been done.
That being said, GoNintendo reached out to miHoYo’s PR to ask what the deal is. Xin Yang, global PR manager of miHoYo shared, “The Switch version [of Genshin Impact] is still a work in progress and we will be releasing more information as it progresses.”
How much process was actually taken to bring the game to Nintendo Switch? We do not know it. We’re also no closer to figuring out a release date or window for it. It’s good to know that sooner or later we’ll see Genshin Impact on the Nintendo Switch. However, since there is no development update after two years, I still have no hope of being able to play Genshin Impact on my Switch anytime soon.
I guess I’ll stick with collecting Primogems on PC for now. At least we hope to have a new banner soon!
