George RR Martin did not rule out the possibility of appearing in the Westeros world in the future, but said he is still focused on completing the highly anticipated novel The Winds Of Winter.
His world-renowned author said he wanted to portray a “severed head” if upcoming HBO show The House Of The Dragon was still filming when he finished writing.
Martin joined British series stars Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke and Paddy Considine to discuss the Game Of Thrones spinoff at San Diego Comic-Con.
The 10-part series features Smith and D’Arcy as members of the vengeful Targaryen family and is scheduled for release on August 21.
It is based on Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, set 200 years before the events of Game Of Thrones.
A new trailer, released a day before the start of Comic-Con, shows giant CGI beasts breathing fire and wreaking havoc as war is declared.
Fans got to see the trailer again at the popular Hall H venue on Saturday across the top of the board.
When asked by a fan if he would ever appear in the film or if others liked it, Martin said: “I don’t know.

“In the last few years since Covid it, I haven’t really left my house. I didn’t manage to be on set much. “
“You might not know this book I’m writing – it’s a bit late, I won’t do anything until I’ve finished and delivered it,” he added, which drew laughter and excitement. cheers from the audience.

The writer revealed that he was supposed to appear as a decapitated person in the original Game Of Thrones series, before studio execs realized that would be too costly.

Executive producer Ryan Condal told fans they can expect “fire and blood and dragons” from the new series.
“This series started at the absolute height of the Targaryen dynasty, they had the most dragons they ever had,” he said.
“That’s right before the flower blooms out of the rose.”
Martin said he watched nine out of 10 episodes of House Of The Dragon and was impressed with the show.
“You always get nervous at first because of these books, these characters are like my kids,” he said.
“When you hand over your kids, you always expect them to be treated well. But I’ve been very lucky here.
“I’m very happy.”
The author previously revealed that The Winds Of Winter will be “completely different” from the HBO TV show.
He said there will be “new characters” appearing in the new novel, and teased that not all characters who survive on screen will do so.
