Germany receives 2,500 Ukrainian refugees from Moldova – POLITICO

Germany will take in 2,500 Ukrainian refugees currently in Moldova, Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu speak after meeting her German counterpart Annalena Baerbock on Saturday.

The meeting took place during Baerbock’s trip to Moldova and the Western Balkans.

“Europe and our country are always in solidarity with you. We will take in refugees from you,” she said Reuters.

According to the plan, people will go to Germany mainly by bus thanks to a corridor opened through Romania.

Moldova is one of the Eastern European countries to welcome millions of people fleeing Ukraine since Russian forces invaded the country.

Number of refugees from Ukraine has reached 2.5 million, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi speak Friday.

He added: “We also estimate that about two million people are displaced inside Ukraine.
