Gigi Hadid has pledged to donate her proceeds from the fall 2022 fashion shows “to help those suffering from the war in Ukraine and to continue to support those experiencing the same in Palestine”.
The 26-year-old model announced her decision on Sunday.
“A set schedule for fashion month has meant that my colleagues and I often showcase new fashion collections at heartbreaking and traumatic times in history,” she wrote on social media.
“We don’t have control over most of our work schedules, but we’d like to go ‘for’ something.”
Hadid revealed that she is following in the footsteps of fellow model Mica ArganÌ’araz by donating her proceeds to the two war-torn nations.
Last month, Argañaraz asked all her modeling friends and colleagues to donate part of their salary to Ukraine for fashion week.
“I have to say it feels very strange walking a runway show knowing there’s a war going on on the same continent,” she said.
“I will donate part of my earnings from this fashion week to help Ukrainian organizations.
To my exemplary friends and colleagues and anyone who is also struggling with this feeling, perhaps this is something we can all contribute to,” said Argañaraz.
Hadid added: “Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters beyond politics, race, religion.”

“At the end of the day, innocent lives pay [the] war, not leader. Stay away from Ukraine. Hands off Palestine. Peace. Peace. Peace.”
Her sister Bella, who had previously shown her support for Ukrainians, encouraged everyone to “ask their Ukrainian and Russian friends if they are okay”.
On Sunday (March 6) Bella also posted a list of humanitarian aid links where anyone can go and donate to people affected by the war in Ukraine.
