According to a General Motors report, there will reportedly no longer be battery replacements for the all-electric version of the Chevy Spark EV resource (about InsideEV’s). The Chevy Spark electric vehicle (EV) was first released in 2013, and GM continued to make new models through 2016.

A GM district executive confirmed this EV resource that the company “will no longer deliver this [the Spark EV’s] Battery.” GM’s inventory of Spark EV battery packs is also reportedly exhausted, and the company has no plans to produce more. The edge reached out to GM for comment, but didn’t immediately receive a response.

Since the oldest Spark EV model is nearly 10 years old, vehicle owners may be left without a working car if their battery pack fails. Spark EV owners may not have the best of luck finding an aftermarket battery pack either. EV resource notes that there really isn’t a market for Spark EV batteries compared to other electric vehicles, considering companies may not see value in providing parts for a car that’s on the cheaper side (the base 2016 model, sold at an MSRP of 2016). less than $26,000). Plus, GM just made it sell around 7,400 Spark EVs — primarily in California, Oregon, and Maryland — before the end of its three-year run.
