God of War is Sony’s biggest, highest rated Steam launch yet

There’s obviously a huge appetite for PlayStation exclusive features on PC. You don’t have to look at the numbers to come to this conclusion, but they do an excellent job at proving the point. After the successful launch of Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone, there is little chance God of War – arguably the best of the three – wouldn’t do a better job.

The PC port of God of War, which launches on Friday, January 14, is now officially Sony’s biggest Steam launch ever. Attractive game 73,529 concurrent players at peak, enough to make it to the top ten list at a time. This number is significantly higher than Horizon Zero Dawn 56,557 concurrent peaks, and more Days Gone’s meager (comparison) 27,450 peaks.

The average Steam review score paints a similar picture. God of War has a Reviews are extremely positive, or 97% positive, based on 9,095 user reviews in those few days alone. Many user reviews for God of War related to some of the issues that we highlighted in PC Technical Review. Things like lack of FOV slider, proprietary fullscreen support, dedicated AA solution are just a few of them. That said, the PC version of God of War is also the most optimized of all three games, and there’s practically nothing worth mentioning – save for the odd 12th Gen Intel CPU bug that makes the game go crazy. play can’t start when onboard GPU is activated – something there is a test patch for.

It should be noted that all three games are available on the Epic Games Store, meaning the PC player base is likely to be even larger, which only bodes well for future releases. The next version officially announced for PlayStation on PC is Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which includes Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: Lost Legacy. It still doesn’t have a definite release date, but it should be in our hands this year. God of War is Sony’s biggest, highest rated Steam launch yet
