Godfall: Ultimate Edition is officially on its way to Xbox and PC

Godfall, the former PS5 launch title from Counterplay Games and Gearbox Publishing, is finally making its way to Steam and Xbox. To mark the occasion, it’s getting its biggest free content update yet.

As confirmed by Godfall publisher Gearbox, Godfall: Ultimate Edition will be available on April 7th on Steam, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. Gearbox also confirmed that the Xbox Series X/S versions will receive exclusive hardware-based enhancements, including variable refresh rate and support for Dolby Vision.

Godfall: Ultimate Edition includes the base game, the Fire & Darkness expansion, and the three content updates: Primal, Lightbringer, and Exalted. Gearbox also noted that previous exclusives such as pre-order bonuses and Ascended Edition content will be bundled with the Ultimate Edition.

Alongside the new versions announced, Gearbox has detailed the new Exalted update that will be released on the same day as Godfall: Ultimate Edition. The latest update will introduce much-requested player features such as: These include streamlining inventory management and Knockdown 2.0, a new recovery skill that allows players to quickly get up and continue fighting after being knocked out. A new mode called Spirit Realms will also be added, allowing you to cooperate with up to five other players.

Gameplay is also getting an overhaul in Godfall thanks to the Exalted update. Key new additions include all weapons being equipped with timing attacks that you can perform after using a weapon technique, as well as the inclusion of a revive system, which should make co-op play much more enjoyable. Those looking for a challenge can test their skills in the Exalted Tower of Trials, where enemies can level up to 150.

The news of additional platforms and a major update to Godfall’s rework comes at an interesting time for the game. Despite being one of the first games to show off the PS5’s technical prowess, we noted in our review that “the iteration of [Godfall’s] Missions wear out before the end of their campaign and even thinner in the endgame after.”

With the new content from the Exalted update, there may be plenty for older players to come back to as new players join through other platforms.
