Gogglebox ‘replaces’ Denise Van Outen’s ex Eddie Boxshall with best friend after breakup

Gogglebox bosses are said to have replaced Denise Van Outen’s ex-boyfriend Eddie Boxshall with her close friend Duncan James.

Denise previously starred in the Channel 4 reality TV series alongside Eddie, 48, and the pair proved to be a hit with viewers.

However, earlier this year, the star wrote a short statement confirming she and Eddie were over after seven years together.

She was “heartbroken” after learning he had messages and pictures of other women on his iPad.

And now, it looks like Denise is tipped to return to Gogglebox alongside Blue singer Duncan.

“Denise and Duncan have been friends since they both rose to fame in the late 1990s and he helped her through a painful breakup this year,” a source told The Sun.

They said the close friends have the ‘perfect chemistry’ to win over fans as they joke around on the show.

Mirror has reached out to Channel 4 and representatives of the duo for comment.

Duncan and Denise recently appeared on stage together at the famous London nightclub, Proud.

Denise recently revealed the worst part of her breakup with Eddie earlier this year.

She said the worst thing was telling her 12-year-old daughter that her relationship with him ended for good.

The TV star shares Betsy, 12, with her former flame and Holby City star Lee Mead, 40.

Having to tell Betsy it was all ‘torn’ Denise as she explained that her daughter burst into tears when she heard the sad news.

Denise recently told OK! Journal.

“I have too much self-esteem and I can’t live like that. I feel as if, in a few selfish moments, he has ruined it.

“I can’t imagine it feeling like that.”

Denise and Eddie began dating in 2014 and quickly became a power couple, appearing on Gogglebox several times, and subsequently becoming a huge hit with viewers of the Channel 4 reality show.

It was on January 7, 2022 that news of the couple’s breakup broke, with Denise confirming the split on social media.

She did so by sharing a striking black and white photo of herself walking her dogs on the beach.
