Gogglebox fans were left in awe on Friday night as Jenny Newby unveiled a special new look that she had prepared for the night in preparation for a new episode of Peaky Blinders.
The 65-year-old professional couch potato burst out laughing at co-star Lee Riley, 51, as she donned a baker’s boy hat and sat behind him.
As part of their recap of a week of television, the cast of the hit Channel 4 show sat down to watch the first episode of Peaky Blinder Season 6.
And Jenny was thrilled to get particularly involved as she effectively wore a themed costume that made her look a little like an extra from the popular BBC crime drama.
When Lee started laughing during the episode, Jenny explained, “You know, Lee, I bought this two years ago.”
She added: “I never got the chance to wear it so I figured I’d wear it tonight.”
The moment was welcomed by viewers, who agreed that Jenny’s humor was the perfect distraction from current troubling world events.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “TV moment of the week – thanks for all the laughs in such dark times.”
Another fan loved Jenny’s cosplay look and tweeted, “Jenny is an absolute stunner! So cute in her hat.”
While another viewer added, “I just snorted soup on Jenny’s hat.”
In an episode of the popular reality show that aired last month, Jenny stunned fans when she confessed that she had visited a sex shop to buy Lee a present.
She presented him with a slanted mug with a rainbow flag design and the slogan, “I’m so gay I can’t even drink straight!”
Jenny informed her couch pal, “I saw it in a sex shop!”
A shocked Lee then spun around to face Jenny, his laughter stopping immediately and he asked “What were you doing in a sex shop in Benidorm?”
Jenny then innocently insists, “I saw it in the window!”
Fans at the time took to Twitter to laugh in the moment, with one joking, “‘I saw it in the window’ Oh aye Jenny we believe you.”
Meanwhile, the cast of Gogglebox grew last week with the arrival of the show’s first Scottish contestants.
Glasgow resident Roisin Kelly, 23, and Joe Kyle, 25, joined the show after Channel 4 bosses called for a Scottish household to be revealed to join the fun.
However, some viewers asked for subtitles as they didn’t understand what the Scottish couple was saying.
Many took to Twitter to post the exact same request in a short amount of time.
“The new Scottish couple needs to come out with subtitles,” one user said, while another wrote, “Gogglebox didn’t get a word about it.”
Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
