Gogglebox star Mary Killen quit drinking after ‘vomiting for days’ amid health fears

Mary Killen talked about the illness she suffered that caused her to quit drinking because of it.
The Gogglebox star, who is known for commenting on TV shows with husband Giles Wood on Channel 4, has revealed why she throws away her beloved wine glasses around 4 last year.
That was when she got campylobacter food poisoning and since then she has given up drinking and will now only drink soft drinks.
She thinks the very vegetables in her garden could be the catalyst for a five-day outbreak of food poisoning, which requires antibiotics to control it.
Although it was the homegrown culprit, the smell of alcohol had since made Mary feel unwell and she was now repelled by the thought of alcohol.
Speaking of this, Mary told the Daily Mail: “Soon, I found myself unable to cope with alcohol.
“I remember going to a house party on Mull Island a short time later.
“All the great wines were served and I couldn’t touch any of them.”

She continued: “It gave me goosebumps – it reminded me of when I was pregnant with our two daughters, both in their 20s.
“It has completely lost its appeal. I don’t even like the smell of it.”
An infection, called Campylobacteriosis, is caused by bacteria from contaminated food and water.

People with this condition often have symptoms that include diarrhea, stomach pain, cramps, fever, and vomiting.
Mary admits that the strongest drink that can cause an upset stomach today is lemonade.
