GOGGLEBOX will celebrate a decade of airing next year – and some of its stars have been there since its inception.
Here, as the popular series gears up for the return of its incredible 19th series, we reveal what the stars looked like in their first appearance.
Lee and Jenny
It feels like Hull’s best friends Lee Riley and Jenny Newby used to be broadcast from the caravan since the program started.
But the couple, who have known each other since her days as a hostess and he was a regular at her pub, joined in 2014.
They signed up after she was approached by researchers on a trip to Beverley Racecourse and then – for almost two hours – asked Lee to join her.
He is seen appearing early with dark hair and a flipped head while Jenny, despite being eight years old, looks almost exactly the same.
Ellie and Izzi
In 2015, another of the show’s favorites joined the party – the Leeds sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner.
The pair were recruited by an old friend of Ellie’s, who was trying to cast interesting new characters for the Channel 4 show to her reply: “Who wants to watch us?”
However, they were picked and went through a variety of looks, hairstyles – Ellie was a hairdresser while Izzi was a mortgage advisor – and even homes.
Since last year, the show has come from The 1930s house Ellie and her boyfriend Nat were working at in Leeds.
Gogglebox OGs The Siddiquis are often seen today in a team consisting of father Sid and sons Bassit and Umar.
But back when they started in 2013, son Raza was also on the sofa (family Nasreen’s mother and the daughter never shows up – although the grandchildren do appear occasionally).
The Derby-based family, known for its particularly cutting-edge comments on the subject of politics, has not aged significantly in the past nine years.
However Sid – who originally had jet-black hair – is now more of a silver fox.
Sophie and Pete
Brother and sister Sophie and Pete Sandiford is another couple who feel like they’ve been on the show forever.
But in fact, they only joined the tenth series in 2017 – along with Amira Rota, the only newcomers from that year still standing on the show.
One big change is the huge and strange cups the couple drink, very unlike the plain white cups they have here.
The other half of the dual action may have changed – from Chris Ashby-Steed becoming his mother to Daniel Lustig – but Stephen is a true Gogglebox survivor.
Join the program with a partner of only six months Chris, Stephen’s hairdresser proved such a hit he is still going strong today.
He started on the first episode in 2013 and continues to this day with husband Daniel Lustig-Webb, broadcasting from their beachfront apartment in Brighton.
The Gogglebox veterans Malones has weighed in on television of the week since the third series in 2014.
First appearing was a team made up of parents Tom and Julie and their sons Tom Jr and Shaun, with daughter Vanessa not coming out for another six years.
Tom, perfecting his distrustful shake of the head from the start, is seen scowling through Mrs Doubtfire and Keith Lemon’s Through The Keyhole.
