The cast of Gogglebox respond to PM’s lockdown law violations

Gogglebox star Julie Malone wrote a touching tribute to her husband Tom Malone Sr. on his birthday after telling fans what she bought him for the special occasion.

She took to Instagram on Tuesday to celebrate her partner’s birthday and shared a photo of Tom, taken in a Marks & Spencer store, wearing a gray flat cap.

Alongside her husband’s photo, Julie wrote in the caption for the post on the social media platform: “Happy birthday to my Tom. Thank you for everything you do for all of us.”

She further praised him for using her writing to encourage her to take on new challenges: “[Thanks] For pushing me out of my comfort zone abseiling, ziplining, flying.”

Julie – who has appeared on Gogglebox with her family since 2014 – said with her other half, “Life is certainly never boring,” and finished by writing, “Have a great day.”

The post came after she revealed what she bought Tom for his birthday and shared details of some of the gifts on the social media platform earlier this week.

In a video shot yesterday after a day of shopping together, Julie said: “I have two dresses, a new purse, a new pair of sneakers. I bought you your birthday presents.”

She went on to say what she bought for her husband and reminded him on the way home: “You have two pants and two shirts. Happy birthday for tomorrow.”

The couple have been on Channel 4’s programming for eight years, along with their children and dogs – they’ve been popular performers since 2014.

The family, who live in Manchester, includes their children, Shaun Malone, Vanessa Malone and Tom Malone Jr., who have each appeared on Gogglebox over the years.

The oldest child, Lee Malone, has not yet participated. Tom Jr. announced his departure from the show last year, revealing at the time that he wanted to pursue other opportunities.

He said: “It’s finally time to put down the remote and say goodbye to Gogglebox. I loved every minute […] but new opportunities are knocking on the door.”

Tom Jr. said he’s looking forward to watching the show as a viewer and not “worrying about saying something stupid,” promising his family would still show up.

Julie, Tom, Shaun and Vanessa star in the latest series alongside other contestants such as Lee Riley, Jenny Newby, Mica Ven and Martin Luther.
