Golden Wind reunites two key talents from the early days in JoJo’s strange adventure

Anime theme songs are hard work. They are the first thing that fans associate with a show, and therefore have tremendous power. Play as a “One Piece” fan “We are!” and they will cry naturally. Give them dozens of remixes on CD and they’ll buy them all. However, “We Are” is an old song, designed first and foremost as a theme tune. A lot of other anime have used upcoming singles by famous musicians, depending on the relationship of the producers. Others have chosen memorable deep cuts, like the use of Asa-Chang and Junray’s obsession. “Hana” in “Evil’s Flower.” When those don’t work, there are always voice actors at the faucet. Convincing an idol group like Globe or a famous voice actor like Mamoru Miyano star in your anime, and at the same time you have both a talent and a locked theme tune.

The ending theme of “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures” is mostly pre-existing songs, including really great selections like Savage Garden “I want you” and by Jodeci “Freek’n You.” But the opening themes are all original songs, with a strong talent pool. The first of these themes, “Sono Chi wa Sadame,” was written by Shoko Fujibayashi and composed by legendary composer Kohei Tanaka. These two have written and composed before, believe it or not, “We Are!” The final component is Hiroaki “Tommy” Tominaga, the lead singer of “Super Brass Rock Band” BLUFF. The producers of “Jojo” will repeat this formula for “BLOODY STREAM,” which merges the anime composer’s royalties with a rising vocalist.
