Goldeneye 007 Xbox Achievements appear on website

Xbox Achievements Website TrueAchievement (thank Wario64) posted an achievement list for Goldeneye 007, which is curious since that game doesn’t exist on the Xbox platform and suggests a possible leak of an upcoming port of the platform FPS.

This is interesting because we’ve never seen a port of the game, leaving it stuck on the N64 due to a series of licensing deals between developers Rare, Nintendo, and MGM. The closest thing we’ve ever seen to a Goldeneye revival is the Wii’s re-imagining of it with very little resemblance to the original game. One port for Xbox Live Arcade is leaked earlier in 2021, but apparently that never saw the light of day until the leak. Rare has repeatedly tried to bring a port to the world, but has been shot down each time. However, that could change and not too soon.

Recent signs suggest the game will return on modern consoles. The recent ban on the game in Germany is lift up, which initially suggested that the game might come to Nintendo Switch Online. But when combined with the new Achievements, this could indicate that the game is coming to Microsoft consoles.

The Achievements themselves are what you’d expect from Goldeneye, with the achievements for each level you clear, difficulty achievements, time to complete a level, and loads of multiplayer achievements. It looks like all parts of the game, both single-player and multiplayer, will remain intact, hopefully we’ll eventually have a version of Goldeneye 007 on non-N64 consoles.
