GOOD Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh couldn’t hold back tears as she shared her own experience of being sexually assaulted at the age of 12.
The TV, 44, is starring in a thrilling new ITV show where she talks to Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein’s victims in a conversation that brings to mind her own experience.
Ranvir was explaining the show, which airs tonight, to Good Morning Britain hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid when she was forced to steady herself as the understandable emotional subject matter unfolded.
After her conversation with victim Lisa Phillips aired, she addressed the concept of “survivor’s guilt” and “memory” surrounding sexual assault saying, “It was that an attempt to comfort her.
“Often when doing this work, people think we just want to make people cry on the phone, you know what I mean, I’m being blunt about how people perceive journalists.”
She continued: “It was just an instant thing – I felt an amazing sense of empathy for what she was describing.
“I’m acutely aware that we’re filming but it’s a human-to-human experience when someone tells you something so painful.”
“So I told her ‘something happened to me when I was 12 and I understand you shouldn’t feel guilty about not …” before closing.
Host Susanna gave a sound of support as Ranvir paused to gather her feelings, before apologizing for nearly bursting into tears.
She continued: “Sorry, you know? I’ve only told two people in my life.
“For the past two days, I’ve had to tell family members, etc,” interjected Susanna: “You don’t have to tell anyone.”
