YOU may have noticed that Google Chrome has a new logo.
Well, not if you don’t look very carefully.
In the latest version of the web browser, the tech giant has decided to flatten things out a bit, literally.
It’s the first logo redesign in eight years.
And while most of us might not even notice the difference, it wasn’t just made for fun.
First, Google has completely dispensed with subtle inner shadows and made the logo completely flat – which is a far cry from the original 2008 logo, which was glossy and 3D.
In addition, the colors have also changed, believe it or not.
As designer Elvin Hu explained, the team found that the juxtaposition of certain greens and reds created an “uncomfortable color vibration.”
“So we added a very subtle gradient to the main icon to tone that down and make the icon more approachable,” he said Twitter.
That’s not all – the law firm did that too Chrome logo slightly different depending on the platform used.
The changes were introduced as part of Chrome 100, the 100th major web browser update.
When the new look was first unveiled, many on social media poked fun at it.
“OMG Google single handedly and without a doubt BROKE THE INTERNET, in its next generation breakthrough design this will be studied for centuries to come as never in HUMAN HISTORY has such a masterful design been created by mankind in its 200,000 years ( sic ),” a user joked.
