Google is changing the Android app loved by millions — and there’s no turning back

GOOGLE refreshed its popular TV app with a new look similar to the company’s other services.
The changes aren’t too radical—you might not even notice them.
It’s all part of Google’s so-called Material Design project, which offers a similar look and feel across all apps.
You’ll see things appear much more rounded, like the pill-shaped buttons at the bottom.
But in terms of content, everything is actually the same.
There are no new features either.

Material design has been implemented in all Google apps in the last few years.
It was first introduced by the company in 2014.
So it was about time the Google TV app got the same treatment.
It comes after the tech giant recently unveiled a new Universal Cast feature.
This allows you to cast video to a connected TV directly from the Google TV app.
A new virtual remote control was revealed, but none have appeared in the new app design yet.

The Google TV app was launched in May 2011.
Although back then it was known as Google Play Movies & TV.
