Google is rolling out an amazing Chrome update that will save you money — how to get it

GOOGLE has introduced some useful new features in Chrome that can help you keep costs down.

The tech giant has added a battery saver mode to the latest version of the popular web browser, as well as a way to make things run smoother.

You can turn on battery saver mode at any time, or set it to kick in automatically when your battery is less than 20 percent.

There is an option that can be enabled if you are using a laptop that is also unplugged.

So it could be a good lifesaver when you’re out and running low on juice.

When the battery saver mode is on, a new leaf icon appears next to the address bar.

The feature works by restricting background activity and reducing visual effects, for example.

Corresponding 9to5Googlethe tech company says you “may notice changes in game and video performance.”

Meanwhile, the Memory Saver option frees up memory from tabs you’re not using to make performance much smoother.

Any inactive tabs are still visible, but they don’t do anything until you return to them when they auto-reload.

That means Chrome uses up to 30 percent less memory, Google claims.

You’ll notice a message in the address bar letting you know when Memory Saver is enabled.

But for sites you want to stay active, you can exempt them from a special list.

Google has created an all-new Performance menu in Settings to keep you busy with the latest additions.

The features will appear in Chrome 108, which will roll out over the next few weeks.
