Google Maps detectives spot a HELICOPTER mid-flight in an extremely rare discovery

HAWK-EYED internet detectives have made a very unusual discovery on Google Maps.
Satellite imagery, available on the digital mapping tool, has provided a rare bird’s-eye view of a mid-flight helicopter.
The one-in-a-million shot taken over North Carolina was shared on the popular r/GoogleMaps Reddit forum on Monday.
The plane is blurred, but viewers can clearly see its tail fin and a series of rotor blades spinning around a rotating pylon.
Reddit user raezin wrote alongside hers post Office: “I’ve seen dozens of planes, sure, but that was my first helicopter.”
The chopper-action shot was snapped by a satellite as it circled over woods near the Guilford County town of Colfax.
It’s unclear what type of helicopter is seen in the shot.
A commenter on Reddit suggested it was a CH-53, a type of heavy lift helicopter operated by the United States military.

Google sources snapshots for its Maps and Earth services from a number of satellite companies.
The source of the helicopter image is listed as Maxar Technologies, a Colorado-based space technology company.
The vehicle is littered with red, green, and blue artifacts that are the result of image capture by satellites.
It’s not the first time an airplane has been immortalized by Google’s mapping service.
In December, netizens revealed that even the notoriously difficult to spot B2 stealth bomber cannot hide from the all-seeing eye of Google Maps.
Satellite imagery, available on the digital map service, offers a rare bird’s-eye view of one of the angular airplanes hovering over rural Missouri.
Eagle-Eyed Reddit User”Obsessed with hipsspotted the unique shot and shared it with the site’s popular r/Damnthatsinteresting forum.
The image is slightly blurry, but viewers can clearly see the bomber’s W-shaped wing design and famous “hawk’s beak” nose.

This shape means there are very few leading edges for the radar to bounce off of, helping it fly incognito in enemy airspace.
The plane’s twin-engine exhaust ducts are also visible to the rear, as is the jet-black windshield.
