There’s usually a compelling reason Google Maps plants a blurry patch over a location, and there’s no mistaking the decision to hide 2207 Seymour Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio from its street view imagery.

This suburban address on an ordinary residential street is linked to a catalog of horrific crimes.

Here the evil Ariel Castro held captive three young women he had kidnapped off the streets and subjected them to untold sexual, physical and psychological abuse for more than a decade.

The clapboard house in the Tremont neighborhood was demolished after Castro’s trial, but the flattened expanse of grass that remains is obscured to anyone who searches for the site on Google.

Over a two-year period between 2002 and 2004, bus driver Castro kidnapped Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina “Gina” DeJesus one by one by offering to take them in his vehicle.

He took her to the house on Seymour Avenue where he had lived since 1992, lured her in and down to the basement where he tied her.

All three were then held captive and repeatedly raped and assaulted by Castro until they managed to raise the alarm and escape.

The then 52-year-old school bus driver, Castro, pleaded guilty to 937 of 977 charges of kidnapping, rape and aggravated murder.

A Cuyahoga County court sentenced him to consecutive terms of life in prison plus 1,000 years, all with no possibility of parole. He was also fined $100,000 and had all of his property confiscated — including 22207 Seymour Avenue.

Michelle was 21 when she disappeared in August 2002, the day before she was due to appear in court at a custody hearing about their young son, Joey.

Amanda disappeared the day before her 17th birthday in April 2003 on her way home from work at Burger King. Three years later, she gave birth to Castro’s child on Christmas Day.

Fourteen-year-old Gina was on her way home from school when she disappeared in April 2004. She accepted a ride from Castro because she was friends with one of his teenage daughters who lived with his former partner Grimilda Figueroa.

In a bizarre twist, Castro reportedly showed up at public vigils to highlight the disappearance of Amanda and Gina, participated in a search party, and attempted to befriend the distraught DeJesus family.

The women kept diaries detailing the appalling physical and mental abuse they endured, including rape, beatings and mental torture.

Confined to upstairs rooms, they were forced to use plastic toilets that were “rarely emptied,” were given one meal a day, and were allowed a maximum of two showers a week.

Michelle spoke of getting pregnant by Castro at least five times, but suffered miscarriages after he brutally beat her. He also ordered her to help Amanda give birth indoors without medical attention.

Over the years, neighbors on Seymour Avenue had apparently reported strange activity at 2207, but no investigation was made.

Then, on May 6, 2013, Amanda screamed loud enough to attract attention while Castro was out and managed to escape with her six-year-old daughter and alert the police.

Michelle and Gina were rescued and all three women and the little girl were taken to hospital for medical evaluation. Castro was arrested and imprisoned the same day.

After his trial and sentencing two months later, the three women appeared at a press conference and spoke publicly to thank people for their support.

Castro was found hanged in his cell at Orient Ohio Correctional Reception Center on September 3, 2013, a month after 2207 Seymour Avenue was demolished.
