Google Starts Issuing Refunds After Massive Gadget Shutdown – Are You Eligible?

GOOGLE has started issuing refunds after one of its most famous products was discontinued.
The popular but newly doomed Google Stadia launched back in November but was canned earlier this year.
Now Google has started processing refunds, which should automatically appear in your bank.
What is Google Stadia?
Google Stadia is a system that streams video games to your devices over the internet – just like a Netflix TV show.
That means you can play games designed for an Xbox or PS4 in a web browser on a cheap laptop or with an app on your phone.
That’s because all of the “hard computing” is done in a Google building miles away and then beamed onto your blower.
You would simply buy a Stadia controller and access the service, allowing you to buy and play games over the cloud.
Why is Google Stadia shutting down and when?
Google Stadia had an estimated 2 million players at its peak – although no official numbers were given.
In any case, the service will now be closed.
A blog post by Google’s Stadia boss Phil Harrison in late September confirmed that the app would be discontinued soon.
“Although Stadia’s approach to streaming games for consumers is built on a strong technological foundation, it hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected,” Harrison said.
“So we made the difficult decision to shut down our Stadia streaming service.”
He added, “Players will continue to have access to their game library and can play until January 18, 2023 to allow them to complete their final game sessions.”
How to get a Google Stadia refund
Thankfully, Google is issuing a refund to all Stadia users.
“We will refund all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store,” Harrison said.
“And all game and add-on content purchases made through the Stadia Store.”
This means that the refunds are completely automatic, so you don’t have to do anything.
According to Google, the majority of refunds should be completed by mid-January 2023.
Therefore, please ensure that all of your payment information in your Google account is current and correct.

If you don’t see a refund by the end of January, you should contact Google Support.
