GOOGLE has given its Play Store a brand new logo, although you’ll be forgiven if you don’t notice.
The tech giant has decided to simplify the color scheme for its app store image.
And it’s no pointless branding exercise, either.
The company comes with a refreshed look to celebrate Google Play’s big 10th anniversary.
The App Store as we know it today was born in 2012.
It was previously known as Android Market.
However, the most observant among us will notice something familiar about the new logo.
It’s more closely aligned with Google’s existing technology portfolio.
“We’re introducing a new logo that better reflects the magic of Google and fits the branding shared by many of our helpful products – Search, Assistant, Photos, Gmail and more,” said Google Play CEO Tian Lim.
“A decade later, more than 2.5 billion people in over 190 countries use Google Play to discover apps, games and digital content every month.
“And more than 2 million developers work with us to build their business and reach people around the world.”
Google also has a small offer for Android users on this occasion.
People can get their hands on a Google Play Points boost.
If you activate the points booster, you will receive 10x points on all purchases.
