Gorka Marquez and Karen Hauer ‘liked’ to join the strict jury

Serious Dance experts Gorka Marquez and Karen Hauer both admit that they would “love” to be on the show’s jury one day.

arquez, 32, and Hauer, 40, both competed in the BBC One dance competition and are currently gearing up for the UK Firedance tour – a passionate dance stage programme.

Talking to Hello! magazine, Marquez and Hauer revealed that they wanted to follow in the footsteps of Judge Anton Du Beke, a judge turned serious professional, Hauer said: “I enjoyed it 100%. Gorka and I and Anton would be perfect.”

Marquez added: “I’ll dance as long as my body allows, but I would love to sit in a chair like Craig (Revel Horwood) and Anton – and give an opinion.”

Joining Seriously in 2012, Hauer is currently the longest-serving dancer on the show, while Marquez joined the lineup professionally in 2016.

Marquez shared about the close friendship he and Hauer have built since meeting on the show: “We were close from day one.

“Karen was one of the first dancers to help and support me. We come from the same background, we both love to joke and just laugh at each other’s expressions.”

While Hauer said: “We understand each other’s capabilities and strengths.

“We also try to have fun, and the fact that we joke around and don’t take ourselves too seriously means we work well together.”

Marquez, who is engaged to Hits Radio host Gemma Atkinson, also said of his joy when he found out he was pregnant with their second child: “We’re so lucky. He will be a baby brother – and possibly future dance partner – for our daughter Mia. She’s obsessed with dancing, so who knows.

“That we have a chance to have more children – we never take it for granted. Life goes by, so make the most of every second you have.”

Marquez and Atkinson, 38, welcomed their first child Mia in 2019.

Meanwhile, Hauer, who lives not far from Marquez and Atkinson, married his partner Jordan Wyn-Jones last year.

Karen said: “Jordan loves Gorka and Gemma, so it’s a great balance we have here.

“We all understand how difficult it is when Gorka and I have to work away from home for a long time, and it has been a real adjustment for our family when we are away from home.”
