Grace Kelly’s Andy Warhol portrait is expected to fetch a huge sum at the Dublin Art Fair

A portrait of Grace Kelly by US artist Andy Warhol is set to go on sale in Dublin next weekend.

The work of art is expected to fetch €200,000 at the Timeless antiques fair, which begins in Dublin on Friday.

Dublin gallery Gormleys Fine Art, which will be bringing the portrait to the fair, said its value has risen over the past three years, showing interest in contemporary art.

“Grace Kelly is extremely popular with collectors and investors with very few for sale at a time,” said Gormley’s MD, Oliver Gormley.

The portrait of the Irish-American actress, who retired at 26 to become Princess of Monaco, is based on a still from her first film in 1951 Fourteen hours. Warhol completed the edition in 1984, two years after her death in a car accident at the age of 52.
