Harry Kane’s future dominated the headlines last summer and the Tottenham striker may be reconsidering his next move as Antonio Conte seeks to make the north Londoners a force
Harry Kane has been instructed to check out Tottenham’s transfer ambitions with Antonio Conte before making a decision on his future.
The forward tried to leave the club again in the summer Manchester City circled but chairman Daniel Levy refused to sell his valuable asset. It leaves Kane at a crossroads amid claims he is unhappy that a gentleman’s agreement was broken by the Tottenham Boss.
Kane is yet to win a trophy in his career and that drought will continue as Tottenham are unable to compete for silverware this season. The north London side could also miss out on the Top 4 as Conte is set for a big summer while trying to make the club a real contender.
The future of his striker, whose summer saga appeared to be affecting his form earlier this season, is likely to be an issue again in the coming months. Graeme Souness has advised the England striker to ask Conte for clarification on the team’s future strategy.
He said Sky Sports : “If I’m Harry, I’ll say to the manager, ‘Do you have money to spend? You’re going to do better in this current group’. The manager won’t be hanging around here if he doesn’t have the money to spend. The manager wants trophies, league titles, Champions Leaguedon’t settle for the fifth or sixth.
“We don’t know what Harry and the club have agreed. Harry will face a dilemma at the end of the season. Tottenham work under a good manager and will improve, if they get the right support they will be real.” power for the future.”
Should Kane leave Tottenham this summer? Let us know in the comments
Kane has scored 22 goals this season while his partnership with teammate Son Heung-min is now record-breaking as the pair continue to combine impressively. The 28-year-old is targeting record goals at his club and in English football with Alan Shearer First League total now in sight. However, Souness insists this only matters so much once your career is over.
“He hasn’t won anything yet. It’s okay to have all the records and stuff, but you still want to show your grandkids your medals,” he added. “Right now he can’t. The dilemma for him to move forward is: do I stay or do I go?
“I don’t have a crystal ball and we don’t know what was agreed between them (Kane and Daniel Levy). Did they say you can go for x amount? If that’s the case, I think City will still be there and know Tottenham will be better under this manager.”
