Graham Porter prepares Brighton for Forest Green

Graham Potter expects his Albion youngsters and fringe players to shine on the Carabao Cup stage.

But they are not joined by new signing Pervis Estupinan, despite his limited playing time since arriving in England last week.

It was also unclear yesterday if Neal Maupay would play in the second round tonight (7.45pm) at Forest Green despite not having played a minute so far this season.

A very different challenge awaits the Albion players involved than in the Senior Premier League or PL2.

Head coach Potter said: “Exactly, but that’s the reality of football.

“You have to deal with different environments and different challenges.

“That’s always the challenge when you play against young players.

“But they’re honest and humble and they’re going to do really well.”

Potter and his staff work on two main fronts during Carabao Cup week.

Albion’s current first team members are spending the whole week recovering and preparing for a Premier League visit from Leeds on Saturday.

They include Estupinan, the left-back who was signed from Villarreal last week.

Potter explained his absence: “Only because he played quite a bit for him on Sunday.

“Because he just came with us, we think he probably won’t be included in the group.”

Potter had not decided on Maupay’s involvement when speaking to the media yesterday afternoon.

But he said that was not linked to any suggestions that the Frenchman could be on the move.

He said: “No, just in terms of what we want to do with the group and the squad.” Graham Porter prepares Brighton for Forest Green
