GRAINNE Seoige has revealed what went through her mind when she stumbled during a performance on Dancing With The Stars.
RTE’s hit show returned last night after a year-long absence due to Covid.
Grainne took to the floor to play a waltz with professional partner John Nolan to the tune of With You I’m Born Again.
The pair scored a total of 14 points from the judges but Brian Redmond pointed out a small error that caused Grainne to slip.
He said: “There was a little slip there and that happened at the exact moment I could see it starting to bloom.”
Grainne explained the reason behind the slip and acknowledged the judges were fair in their comments.
The presenter said: “I really think they’re mostly fair to be honest.
“The funny thing is that my little stumble, which Brian drew attention to, was because I kicked my leg higher than I ever did before.
“You know with the adrenaline of the show, you just go find things, fly around.”
When asked what went through her mind in that moment, the Galway girl said it was blank.
She told Lottie Ryan on the Dancing With The Stars podcast: “It’s okay, just carry on for him [John] gave me the urge – keep it up. “
“The show must go on,” the associate added.
John Nolan said he was thrilled when he heard that he would be paired with Grainne.
He said, “There’s no pressure. When they said Grainne was going to be my partner, did I say ‘seriously?’ “
“She’s one of the biggest names in the country. That’s Grainne Seoige, she’s part of the iconic Seoige sisters, they’re the famous women of Ireland. Let’s say it. .
“No matter how long you’ve been here, no matter what season it is, every year brings a different challenge, a different pressure.
“I’m really excited this year to show different sides of Seoige.”
Grainne explained that the performance had a “spiritual” effect on her.
She said: “I totally feel it. I know what you’re saying when you turn around and you feel it again and it goes through you.
“There’s something going on with this show. Something is really coming to you, it’s almost a kind of spirituality. It’s infiltrating you.
“There’s a joy in dancing and I don’t think you realize it until you start doing it.
“Even if you don’t do very well, there’s still fun in it.”
