Sam Smith gave way to collaborator Kim Petras as the duo celebrated her becoming the first transgender woman to win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys.
Heiress Unholy’s chart-topping collaboration won Sunday night with German vocalist Petras to thank other transgender artists who came before her.
“Sam, I love you so much and this song has been a great journey for me,” she said after they took the stage.

“Sam really wanted me to accept this award because I am the first transgender woman to win it,” she added, prompting a standing ovation from part of the audience.

Smith wore a demon-horned headdress while Petras performed in the cage and both wore crimson sportswear.
Earlier in the night, the duo drew attention on the red carpet when wearing matching red outfits.
Smith wore a floor-length bright red coat with an oversized collar that they teamed with a hat and cane, while Petras opted for a mini skirt and matching red heels.
They were also accompanied by Gottmik and Violet Chachki, from RuPaul’s Drag Race, who appeared in their music video.
