Grease is returning to the theater for charity in honor of the late Olivia Newton-John

Returning to theaters is an incredible opportunity for the younger generations who missed out on the “Grease” craze in 1978 or during the 20th anniversary theatrical rerun in 1998. It’s also a great opportunity to be surrounded by “Grease” lovers in the theater, who will happily laugh, hum along, and maybe even dive into the theater-wide jive if you’re feeling queasy. As much as we love Nicole Kidman AMC’s promotional meme, this celebratory show is exactly what she’s talking about when she says, “it’s heartbreaking to be in a place like this.”

It is heartbreaking to hear that Newton-John is no longer here to bless us with her remarkable talent and light, but to celebrate her most famous performance among countless other audiences. Missing her together can be a truly powerful and unifying experience. My eyes blurred when I thought about the theater watching her wave at the camera and fly into the clouds as the chorus went, “We’ll always be together.” My apologies to anyone else who was also choking on their throats while reading that description.

AMC has now established a “Remind me“on their website will update available theaters, showtimes and purchase tickets as soon as they are available. Grease is returning to the theater for charity in honor of the late Olivia Newton-John
