GTA fans fear they may be waiting a lot longer for the next game in the series than they had hoped.
Players have been desperate for a release date window, thinking details might emerge during a major business update being held by publishers on Monday.
But their dreams were dashed after Rockstar Games owner Take-Two Interactive gave no hints as to when GTA 6 will be released.
In fact, one presentation has prompted fears that the wait could be significantly longer.
A slide showing plans for 2023 to 2025 was revealed Twitter didn’t show any signs of GTA, so we couldn’t see any earlier than 2026.
“So GtaVI is a waaay gone,” wrote one player on Twitter.
“Oh man more GTA remasters and not GTA 6. Yawn,” responded another.
Although nothing is confirmed yet.
Rockstar may be keen to keep things under wraps for a while before announcing launch dates.
“There’s no way you would bet GTA 6 on something like that,” one user surmised.
“This only applies to publicly announced games.”
The document also said as much, teasing that “it’s likely … that we’ll be adding new titles to our list as well.”
So all hope must not be lost.
The last title in the main series of Grand Theft Auto, GTA V, was released back in 2013.
Rockstar announced in February that a new addition to the franchise was in “active development.”
