Hundreds of Britons have reported this evening that Halifax and Lloyds banking apps have stopped working.
Smokey users took to social media to spread the word about online banking services, and a screen outage indicated that the services were in trouble.
Downdetector received 330 reports about the Lloyds app, while 348 complained about Halifax.
According to the website, users started experiencing problems with the app around 9:05 a.m.
One Halifax user complained: “Need help, can’t access online or mobile banking need access to my account.”
One Lloyds customer exasperated: “Can’t seem to log into my app? This is ridiculous.”
Another wrote: “@HalifaxBank Your mobile app is coming up with 503 login error and I can’t reach anyone on the phone to report this error.
“I can’t access my money and I’m desperate!!!”
One woman added: “What a shock, no.
“There are no updates on your website, social media or phone line. I WANT ACCESS TO MY MONEY. THAT IS XMAS!”
Lloyds Bank and Halifax are not the only banks that have recently had problems with online services.
Natwest went down two weeks ago, leaving customers unable to use the website or app.
Whereas last month, Santander went down leaving hundreds of customers struggling to see their account balances.
A Lloyds bank spokesman said: “Our online banking is back to normal. We’re sorry that some of our customers experienced short-term issues this evening. ”
Halifax has been contacted for comment.
