Halle Berry urged women to continue telling stories that showcase their “diversity and contradictions” in a passionate speech at the Critics’ Choice Awards (CCA).
The Oscar-winning actor has been honored with CCA’s sixth annual SeeHer Award, which honors female members of the industry for their advocacy for gender equality.
Accepting the compliment, she reassured girls all over the world that they would be seen and heard.
“I am so grateful to be standing and living in this moment where women are standing up and we are telling our own stories,” she said.
“We will write, we will produce, we will direct, and if we are brave enough, we will star in it all at once.
“We’re going to use our emotional intelligence and we’re going to tell stories that don’t fit the stereotype, no.
We will tell stories so they see us fully in all of our diversity and contradictions, because we are confident and we are afraid. We are vulnerable and we are strong, we are beautiful and we are abused.Halle Berry
