If you like the weird girlfriend/mother story that Halo Infinite Filmed with longtime franchise mascot Master Chief and his AI companion, you might want to keep an eye on where Aaron Linde (one of the game’s main writers) is going next.
Linde, who has earned a number of high writing credits in her career to date, is credited as the lead story designer on Halo Infinite – boasting one of our campaigns. Alex personally thinks ‘the ultimate Halo solo experience.
But just as the latest Halo game is starting to get some real momentum following its release in late 2021, Linde has announced that he’s moving from 343 Industries to “pursue a new opportunity in 2022”.
“Bits of news to report: I’m leaving 343 Industries to pursue a new opportunity in 2022. It was an incredibly difficult decision; Halo Infinite will remain one of the proudest achievements of all. in my career for the rest of my life. I’m so grateful to have been a part of it,” he said in a thread on Twitter.
“I want to thank my dear colleagues at 343 for making the best game I’ve ever worked on, our incredible voices elevate our work in every delivery and our players have joined us on this wild journey. You have made 2021 an extremely special year for me.”
In his bio, Linde notes that he’s currently a senior narrative writer at Riot R&D – the developer’s secret arm dedicated to exploring new genres, game experiences, and projects. Huh!
Linde has previously worked on shooters, for the most part – Battleborn, Gears of War 3 and Halo Infinite as the headlines for his portfolio. So could he be doing something similar at Riot? It remains to be seen. However, don’t expect to hear about anything anytime soon.
Here’s hoping Linde won’t get Riot’s company culture (now infamous) recently resulted in the company agreeing to settle a class action lawsuit against the company related to sexism cost the studio $100 million.
