Harry Styles’ second solo number one single, As It Was

Harry Styles has scored his second solo number-one single with As It Was – making it the biggest opening week of any singles in 2022 to date.

The former One Direction star’s new track secured 94,000 chart sales in the past seven days, including 10.5 million streams, according to the Official Charts Company.

This is the biggest first week of a song since LadBaby’s Sausage Rolls For Everyone, starring Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John, last December.

The up-tempo 1980s-inspired track is also the most downloaded song of the past week.

As It Was is the lead single from the singer’s third solo album, Harry’s House, which is out on September 20th.

Styles released his self-titled debut album in 2017 and his sophomore effort, Fine Line, in 2019.

As part of One Direction, he achieved four UK number 1 singles and four UK number 1 albums, as well as numerous top 10 finishes.

Its chart success catapults Starlight by Dave to number two after four weeks at the top.

On the album chart, Unlimited Love marks the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ fifth number-one album, 20 years after their first chart-topping debut.

Their 12th studio album sees members Anthony Kiedis, Flea and Chad Smith reunited with guitarist John Frusciante for the first time since his departure in 2009.

The LA rockers previously topped the UK charts with “By The Way” (2002), “Live in Hyde Park” (2004), “Stadium Arcadium” (2006) and “I’m With You” (2011).

Following the death of singer Tom Parker, The Wanted’s greatest hits collection, Most Wanted, climbs 80 spots to No. 22 on the charts.

Parker was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2022 and died on March 30 surrounded by family and friends.
